Zu Ebens Verblüffung taucht Jenny immer wieder bei ihm auf und wird von Mal zu Mal immer älter, über die Teenagerin bis zur jungen, hübschen Frau, die Eben zunehmend inspiriert, aber Angst vor Ebens Küstenpanoramen von Cape Cod zeigt. Als Eben herausfindet, dass Jennys Eltern vor Jahren bei einem Sturz gestorben sind und das Mädchen ihm weinend davon erzählt, als sei es gerade erst geschehen, kommt der Maler dem Geheimnis um Jenny immer näher, während sein Portrait von ihr reift und reift...
